Holiday Sign-Ups

This program provides a Thanksgiving and Christmas food box to families so that they will not have to worry about what they will eat on Thanksgiving or Christmas but instead focus on spending time gathered around the table as a family. This would involve helping people correctly enter their information into the computer. We often have elderly that are not familiar with computer and sometimes people who are unable to read. We desire to serve them without limits. We would ask volunteers to engage with them in conversation while helping them complete the needed information.

Thanksgiving Distribution

NOVEMBER 23, 2019

This program supports low-income families to help them celebrate the holiday by providing a Thanksgiving and Christmas meal to those neighbors in need. How can you help? Load food boxes, greet neighbors as they arrive, manage traffic? There’s something for everyone.

Decorate for Christmas Marketplace

Detailed oriented or retail experience? We need your expertise! We will set up a teen area and a children’s area with gifts for parents to shop for their children. Help with decorations, layout, and organizing toys to be displayed for the Marketplace needed.

Be A Light Program

Be A Light Marketplace is a Good Samaritan Ministries program which serves registered under resourced parents and guardians with the opportunity to “shop” and select Christmas gifts for their children. Our desire is to partner with parents/guardians and empower them to become part of the process of providing Christmas gifts for their families.

Back To School Program

This program targets school-aged children of low-income families. Participants receive a backpack with school supplies and two new back to school outfits, including underwear, socks, and shoes.

The Melting Pot

The Melting Pot serves food to hungry people everyday using food donations from a variety of generous sources. Many churches in the community come together to prepare and serve meals. In 2018, the Melting Pot served 115,326 meals. Hospitality meals at breakfast and lunch are open to the public.

Volunteer groups and individuals to serve meals are always welcomed.

Freezin' For A Reason

Freezin’ For A Reason is so much more than an icy dip in the water. Participants ‒ or “plungers” ‒ raise funds to get wild and plunge into an icy pool. All proceeds benefit the Good Samaritan Ministries.

Resurrection Baskets

This program provides Easter Resurrection Baskets to children from low-income and at-risk households, such as those who have a parent that is incarcerated and those participating in area after school programs. Each basket is filled with candy, fun items such as toys and bubbles, Christian coloring books and reading material, and a children’s bible to further a child’s spiritual growth.

Food Pantry

Our food pantry provides emergency food assistance for families, individuals, and elderly.

We see an increasing need for food every day. Last year, we made over 7,200 food boxes for those in need. This means that many families and individuals are struggling to put meet their most basic needs.
